Transforming a liquid into a solid.

Our concept theme for Term 2 is "Transformation / I'm A Scientist." We decided to see how liquids can transform into solids. Our experiment was turning cream into butter by just using an empty mason jar and a 300ml bottle of whipping cream.

Our large mason jar and bottle of cream.

Pouring the cream into the mason jar.

After vigorously shaking the cream for just over 9mins, our cream solidified, changed colour and turned into butter.

Surprisingly, we discovered that buttermilk became a by-product of our experiment.

Room 23 class made butter.

Miss Ivory made our yummy pikelets for us.
