Micrography Art

As a starter to get the children thinking about who they are, they were given 40 questions to answer. They then traced the outline of themselves from a coloured picture with a pencil and used the answers from the 40 questions to write over the lines in pen. They then rubbed out the pencil lines and were left with a self portrait of themselves created with the words that make up who they are. Below are some examples from those students who managed to finish their work in time.

This type of artwork is created from the text that forms an image when viewed at a distance creating an interplay between text and image. Micrography comes from Greek meaning "small-writing" – "Μικρογραφία." It is also known as microcalligraphy.
